Cherry Crumble Pie Bars Recipe With Canned Pie Filling

This recipe is made with canned cherry pie filling for easy prep. And with just seven ingredients, six of which are pantry items this dessert comes together within one hour. But it looks and tastes like you put more effort into it.
How to Make Cherry Crumble Pie Bars
Cherry crumble pie bars are a satisfying dessert that is super easy to make. First, preheat your oven to 350°F. Next, in a large bowl beat the butter and sugar together until smooth. Add in the vanilla extract and mix until it is incorporated. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt and continue to mix, scraping the sides of the bowl, until the dough is crumbly.
Grease the bottom and sides of a 9×9″ baking dish with a bit of butter. Then press about 2/3 of the dough into the 9×9″ baking dish until you have a flat layer. Next, add the canned cherry pie filling and spread it evenly over the dough layer.
Now add the remaining dough by adding drops of dough over the top of the filling. Then gently press the dough down, leaving spaces between the dough to create a crackled look.
Bake cherry crumble pie bars in the preheated oven for 20-30 minutes, or until the top is lightly golden brown. When it’s done, let it cool at room temperature before cutting and serving.

3/4 cup granulated sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
21-ounce can of cherry pie filling
Instructions

- If you want more fruit filling in your cherry crumble pie bars, you can use two cans of pie filling, but you will want to drain some of the syrup out so that the bars are not too watery.
- I like to lightly grease the bottom and sides of a ceramic baking dish, but you can also line the dish with parchment paper if you want to lift the bars out of the dish prior to cutting.
