Homemade Raspberry Syrup Recipe – Simple and Easy
This homemade raspberry syrup has 3 simple ingredients and can be made quickly at home over the stovetop. Raspberries are so nutritious and healthy so why not make syrup with them? The key to making this syrup is simmering the flavor out of the raspberries and then using a mesh sieve strainer and metal spoon to squeeze the fresh juice from the berries. To get started you will need a small pot, sieve, spoon a mason jar or bottle, and a bowl.
How to Make this Raspberry Syrup Recipe
To start, pour a cup of water and a half cup of sugar into a small pot over the stovetop. On medium heat, stir the sugar and water mixture until the sugar dissolves. Then add 6 ounces of fresh raspberries to the pot. 6 ounces of raspberries is the equivalent of one small package.
Let the raspberries slowly cook on medium-low heat for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
As the raspberries cook they will begin to look pale in color. Then they will start to break down into smaller pieces and are ready to strain.
Take the raspberries off of the stovetop and transfer them into a bowl. Rinse the pan out and position the sieve strainer over the pot.
Next, pour the homemade raspberry syrup through the sieve strainer and let the liquid drain into the pot. Once most of the liquid is strained, use a metal spoon to press the remainder of the liquid out of the raspberries. Don’t worry about the seeds. They will stay in the strainer.
Cool the syrup in the pot on your countertop, and then transfer the homemade raspberry syrup into a sealed jar or bottle. The syrup will keep up to two weeks in the refrigerator. It’s that easy!
