DIY Gentle Foaming Citrus Hand Soap + Organic Version
If you’re looking for a DIY gentle foaming citrus hand soap, look no more. This foaming hand soap is fresh-smelling from lemon essential oil. But what sets it apart from other DIY foaming hand soaps is that it’s very mild, because it’s made with vegetable glycerine, which is a natural skin moisturizer.
Whether I’m in the kitchen cooking or working in the yard, it seems like I’m forever washing my hands. But too much hand washing can leave my hands overly dry, which is why I wanted to make a gentle foaming soap.
Of course, you can use any scent of essential oil that you prefer. Or if you like citrus, but don’t have lemon oil on hand, you can also substitute orange or even tangerine essential oil. One thing you can’t substitute is the foaming soap dispenser.
I have saved a few of the ones I got at Bath and Bodyworks when I purchased their foaming hand soaps and they have come in handy. But if you don’t have one, you can easily get one online like this amber glass one.
This recipe also allows you to use basic, gentle ingredients you may already have on hand at home. Or, you can substitute strictly natural ingredients without GMOs or chemicals to make an organic version.
Ingredients
- 4 Tablespoons Baby Wash (Puracy Natural Baby Wash)
- 1 Teaspoon NOW Vegetable Glycerin
- 6-10 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
- 7.5 Oz. Water Approx.
- 1 Drop Food Coloring is Optional (Natural Food Coloring)
If you want your DIY foaming hand soap to look as nice as it smells, you can add a drop of food coloring, but you don’t have to. I like it because it looks pretty sitting on my sink counter and is more appealing.
